DIRECTOR, NATALIE G LYNCH - Dip T, B Ed, HH Dip (A.Th.)
I can’t count how many times people have said to me:
“I’ve always wanted to do art but I can’t even draw!” or “I wish I had been able to do art lessons when I was a child then maybe…”
After 30 years of teaching Art in both State and Independent Schools, I am still excited and passionate about everything that I do. I have learned so much from the children and teenagers in my classes. I love watching them discover “I can do it” and I am always amazed by the endless possibilities and hours of enjoyment that can come from some basic materials and equipment when mixed with a little know how. Unfortunately for some, creative self-expression is something that falls by the wayside as we grow up.
In 2009 I became a widow and single parent after 22 years of marriage. After such a tragic event, I learned to look at life in a different way. I also learned that it doesn’t matter how healthy your body is because without good mental health you have nothing.
I know that as the world gets busier many of us put off doing the things we love and that can have a significant impact on our health. Art has always been an important part of my life and has contributed greatly to my overall well-being yet I am very aware of how many adults have never had the opportunity to learn some Art basics. I would like to help as many people as possible to engage in some form of Art-making. I believe we all should be sketching and painting, printing or sculpting our way toward fulfilment. Through Art-making, we can connect with our thoughts or take a break from our ‘work’ and find joy. Why should children be the only ones to feel comfortable about making Art? At any age, Art helps us to make sense of our world.
While I still love working in schools (with children) now is the right time for me to share my passion for art with the wider community. I want to help people of all ages and all stages.
I was once told, "Everyone needs someone to love, something to do and something to look forward to." It is my hope that with Studio Yellow I can help you to achieve all three.
I hope I have a chance to meet you soon,
Natalie
Classes are held on weekdays, weeknights, Saturdays and by appointment.
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” - Picasso
